Getting Started

Creating an account

Open the app and tap Sign Up. You can register with your email address or sign in with your existing Google or Apple account. After signing up with email, check your inbox for a confirmation link before logging in.

Signing in

Tap Log In on the opening screen and use the same method you signed up with (email/password, Google, or Apple).

Resetting your password

On the login screen, tap Forgot password? and enter your email address. You'll receive a reset link within a few minutes. Check your spam folder if it doesn't arrive.

Finding Events

Map view

The Map tab shows nearby events as pins on a map. Tap a pin to preview the event, then tap View Event for full details. Use the filter sheet to narrow by category, date range, or distance.

Calendar view

The Calendar tab displays events day-by-day. Tap a date to see what's happening, and tap any event card to open it.

Categories

Events are tagged with categories (e.g. Running, Food, Outdoor). Use the category filter on the map or calendar to show only events that interest you.

Creating Events

How to create an event

Tap the + button on the Map or Calendar tab. Fill in the event title, description, location, date and time, and optionally add a cover photo, capacity limit, and category tags.

Event visibility

When creating an event you can choose Public (visible to everyone) or Friends only (visible only to your friends). You can change this setting before the event starts.

Inviting friends

Open an event you created and tap Invite Friends to send in-app invitations to specific friends. You can also share a link via any messaging app using the share button.

Friends

Adding a friend

Visit a user's profile (tap their name anywhere in the app) and tap Add Friend. They'll receive a notification and can accept or decline.

Accepting a friend request

You'll get a notification when someone sends you a request. Open the notification or go to your Profile tab and look for pending requests.

Messaging

Sending a direct message

You can only message users who are already your friends. Go to the Messages tab and tap the compose icon, or open a friend's profile and tap Message.

Emoji reactions

Long-press any message to add an emoji reaction.

Pinned event in a conversation

A conversation can have a pinned event shown at the top — useful for coordinating around a specific hangout. Tap the pinned event card to open the event details.

Notifications

Enabling push notifications

When you first open the app, you'll be prompted to allow notifications. If you declined, go to your device's Settings → Hangout → Notifications and enable them.

Notification preferences

In the app, go to Profile → Notification Settings to choose which types of notifications you receive (friend requests, event RSVPs, messages, etc.).

Your Account

Editing your profile

Tap your avatar on the Profile tab, then tap Edit Profile. You can update your display name, username, bio, and profile photo.

Deleting your account

Go to the Profile tab, tap the button in the top-right corner, and select Delete Account. Confirm the prompt. Your account and all associated data will be permanently deleted within 30 days.

If you are unable to access the app, contact us at joakim.evju@gmail.com with the subject line "Delete my account" and we will process your request.

Safety

Reporting content or a user

Tap the button on any event, comment, or message to find the Report option. On a user's profile, tap ⋯ → Report User. Choose a reason (spam, inappropriate content, harassment, violence, or other) and optionally add details. Reports are sent to us for review — the person you report is never told who filed the report.

Blocking a user

Open a user's profile and tap ⋯ → Block User. Once blocked, that person won't see your content, can't send you messages or friend requests, and won't appear in your feeds. Any existing friendship is automatically removed when you block someone.

Managing blocked users

Go to Profile → ⋯ → Blocked Users to see everyone you've blocked. Tap Unblock next to a name to reverse the block.
